How to start your own portfolio
Steps to start investing every week in US stocks from Mexico: broker, first purchase, habit and patience.
1. Open a brokerage account
From Mexico you can buy US stocks in pesos through the SIC (International Quotation System) with a broker or bank that offers it. Some apps let you open the account from home in minutes.
2. Choose your weekly amount
Pick an amount you can keep every week, even if it is small. Consistency matters more than size: the exercise uses about $500 MXN per week.
3. Research before you buy
Understand what the company does, how it makes money and why you think it will grow. The companies published here are each investor's personal decisions: research is everyone's own job.
4. Build positions little by little
Buy the same company for several weeks, taking advantage of price drops, until the position is complete. Then move to the next one to stay diversified.
5. Be patient
It is normal to see the portfolio in the red while it is being built. Until you sell, you have neither won nor lost. The charts of previous years show how the value kept growing after contributions stopped.
Beware of fraud
Your money must always be in an account in your name. Nobody on this site asks for or receives money to invest it for you or manages other people's portfolios. If someone contacts you using the name of an investor on this site to manage your money, it is a fraud: do not accept.
